With around 80 teams from universities and colleges this season, Imagine Cup 2012 is gradually increasing its coverage among IT specialized schools throughout the country. Being the university owning the largest number of qualified teams has not only shown the efforts of FPT teachers and students but also confirmed the position of FPT University among Vietnamese IT schools.

5 teams from FPT in the second round of Imagine Cup 2012 are: Dummies, TLH, SetaFU, 6Fingers  and Wikid. They are hastening their completion of the products, as well as recording a demonstration video clip to submit before April 4^th, 2012.

Members from the Wikid team are developing a software product which supports pupils in learning.

Ta Duc Tung, member of 6Fingers team, one of the five teams participating in the second round said, “Because there is a coincidence of the time, we have combined our ideas for Imagine Cup with the Capstone project of the team. Working strictly along the procedure of the Capstone project has helped us so much in project management, design, and quality assurance. All team members are trying their best to elaborate on every stage of the system. With the support from our teacher, the development process is running quite smoothly. We are looking forward to the day of presentation to FPT University Capstone project council, before sending our product to Imagine Cup organizers.”

Products that takes part in the contest must go along the topic: “Let’s imagine a world where technology helps people to solve even the hardest problem”, presented through the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations like: Eradicate extreme poverty & hunger, Achieve universal primary education, Promote gender equality and empower women, Health of children, Improve maternal health, Combat HIV/AIDS, Ensure environmental sustainability, Develop a global partnership for development.

Imagine Cup is the global software design contest which has been held in 70 countries throughout the world. This is the fifth time the contest has taken place in Vietnam under the cooperation between Microsoft Vietnam and Vietnam Association for Information Processing. The competition helps students to challenge themselves, to discover their creativity by taking advantage of technology to solve the world’s serious problems. Imagine Cup is a great opportunity for Vietnamese students in general, and FPT students in particular, to approach the latest technology of the world. This is also the chance for them to share their passion for technology with friends from all over the world, as well as honoring the creative intelligence of Vietnamese youths.

In the contest, provided with tools and technology by Microsoft, the contestants have a solid foundation which, when combined with their talent and creativity, will create unique, humanitarian, user-friendly  and highly feasible products. Previously, one team from FPT University had honorably claimed second prize of Imagine Cup 2011.
