The talk focused on Lotus Notes Migration project, which is a program that Microsoft Corporation has been devoted a lot of enthusiastic ever. Currently, many companies in US as well as around the world are using the latest versions of Lotus Note provided by IBM. However, Lotus Notes is not at a low price, and those companies regularly have to spend a lot of money for maintenance and upgrade. Therefore, Microsoft Corporation has been developing Lotus Notes Migration program in order to support and encourage these enterprises to shift into Microsoft's technology of transferring E-mail (Microsoft Exchange) and use its application (Share Point) with many preeminent features, intimate user interface and at a lower price.

Up to now, Lotus Notes Migration program has gained considerable achievements. Microsoft has convinced a large number of customers of IBM to switch to Microsoft Exchange and Share Point. Microsoft has successfully solved the problem in conversing E-mail technology. Yet, the application conversion process (switch to Microsoft Share Point) still has to face many difficulties because each company has its own business with different databases. "In order to overcome this problem" - Sir Brian shared - "Microsoft needs the corporation from a lot of partners all over the world". The reason is the amount employees working in Service area are just 5,500 in comparison to 25,000 of IBM, other companies as Google or Oracle has over 20,000 employees, too. Moreover, according to Mr. Brian, if only half the number of IBM's customer switches to Microsoft's technologies, the workload is enough to do in the next eight years. Therefore, this is a one-in-a-life-time opportunity with FPT Software as well as FPT students.

Sir Brian also answered FU students' questions concerning about opportunities that they can attain once get involved in the game. More specific, participating in Lotus Notes Migration program, students will have the chance to learn with the latest material provided by Microsoft. Furthermore, if Vietnam and FPT prove its capabilities, Microsoft will consider building an outsourcing establishment here. The students will participate in researching new technologies like Microsoft. NET or Share Point. Mr. Brain was very surprised to hear that FU has an interesting club called LIVE, which is newly formed by students to study the most advanced technology of Microsoft. Mr. Brian also stated that to become a partner of Microsoft, students need to have a good base of English, and it will be even better if they know other languages.
